Chromecast With Google TV (4K) to Receive Android 12 Update Soon

 


This is the first major update that Chromecast with Google TV (4K) will be receiving since its launch.


According to reports, Google is bringing Android 12 to its Chromecast with Google TV (4K) streaming gadget. In its two and a half years since its October 2020 launch, Chromecast with Google TV (4K) has seen relatively few updates. Support for 4K user interface (UI), content frame rate matching, "Quick Connect" capability, and a few other small design improvements like rounded buttons and on-screen animations that replicate the Android experience on phones will all be included in the Android 12 upgrade.

Google interacted with 9to5Google and confirmed the development. However, a precise schedule for when the update will begin to roll out has not yet been provided.

According to the claim, the Android TV's camera and microphone indications are supposed to cause a bright green symbol in the top corner to appear, signifying that the TV or any external applications that have been installed on it are using the devices. Through a toggle switch on the menu, users will be able to completely disable the camera and microphone blocking capabilities in the meantime. Users will have the option of forcing the Android TV to match the refresh rate of the original media being played or disabling the content rate matching capabilities. Users may select "seamless," "non-seamless," or "never" options under the match content rate feature in the Display & Sound menu section.

Up until this point, all upgrades for the Chromecast with Google TV (4K) have only included minor bug fixes and security patches, along with an app-based update that enabled the creation of additional profiles. The article claims that the storage restrictions on the Chromecast gadget have largely restricted Google's ability to release updates. Currently, only 4GB of the 8GB of storage space that Chromecast with Google TV (4K) comes with can be used by the user to add apps.

An update to Chromecast with Google TV (4K) was previously announced by Google and would allow it to fix storage and performance difficulties. In the update, a "Free up space" button was added to the Google TV settings menu, enabling users to clear their cache and uninstall unnecessary programmes.

The update also added automatic storage space-clearing procedures that applied to (Android Runtime/Optimised Ahead of Time) ART/OAT objects and app cache files.

Google has introduced the updated Chromecast together with Google TV (HD) in India. The new streaming device will come pre-installed with Android 12.
