WhatsApp Call Links Support Rolling Out, 32-Member Group Video Call Testing Also Begins
WhatsApp has announced that Call Links will be available later this week to users running the latest version of the app.
Call Links, a new feature that enables users to initiate a call or join one that is already in progress, was unveiled by WhatsApp on Monday. The Calls tab will get a new "Call Links" option that will allow users to simply share a link for an audio or video call on other platforms. The messaging service, which is owned by Meta, stated that the functionality will be live later this week, but users must make sure they are using the most recent version of the programme. WhatsApp has additionally revealed that it would soon start testing group video conversations on the messaging platform for up to 32 users.
Zuckerberg announced WhatsApp's introduction of the Call Links feature in a post on the social media site Facebook. This feature lets users establish links on WhatsApp and share them with friends and family. Similar to links for Google Meet or Microsoft Teams calls across platforms, they can click the link and join the call in just one tap.
Although the Meta-owned company specifically omitted naming the platforms that would support the functionality, the Calls tab's mention hints that at the very least Android and iOS will support it.
Users can touch the Create call links option found under the Calls Tab to create a link to an audio or video call, which they can then share with family and friends. It should be noted that the distribution will start this week, and making links will require the most recent version of the app.
The business has also revealed that it has started experimenting with group video calls for up to 32 participants on WhatsApp. Soon, information on the feature will be released.
It should be remembered that group voice calls on WhatsApp already support up to 32 members. Both iOS and Android users can access the feature. One step on its roadmap to growth into the next WhatsApp Communities feature, which is currently under development, will be the introduction of video calls with support for up to 32 people.
