PS5, PS5 Digital Edition Price in India Rises to Rs. 54,990 and Rs. 44,990

Up 10–12.5 percent from their respective launch prices in India.
In India, the cost of the PlayStation 5 has increased by at least 10%. On the Sony Center website ShopAtSC, Sony India secretly changed the prices for both models of its elusive next-generation system, the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition, on Saturday. The PlayStation 5's current price, which is Rs. 54,990 (up 10% from Rs. 49,990 at launch), includes a 4K Blu-ray player. The price of the PS5 Digital Edition, which does not include a disc, has increased 12.5 percent to Rs. 44,990 from Rs. 39,990 since it was first released. This is probably because of the rising value of the US dollar (USD), which has had an impact on almost every aspect of global civilization. Gadgets 360 has contacted Sony India for comment, but as of this writing, we had not received a response at the time of publishing.
Thankfully, the cost of any PS5 accessories hasn't changed yet. DualSense, the wireless controller for the PlayStation 5, is still available for Rs. 5,990 (for white and black) and Rs. 6,390. (for blue, red, pink, and purple colour variants). As always, you can find them for less than the MRP. Even though it is typically available for Rs. 7,890, the PS5 wireless headset Pulse 3D is still Rs. 8,590. Even though it's typically available for Rs. 4,790, the PS5 HD Camera is still priced at Rs. 5,190. Finally, the launch pricing of Rs. 2,590 remains the same for the PS5 Media Remote and DualSense Charging Station.
When it comes to a price increase for the PS5, India is not the only affected market, and it is not even the first. The price of the PlayStation 5 and PS5 Digital Edition increased in the UK, Australia, Canada, Japan, China, Mexico, and a few other territories in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, according to a statement made by Sony India back in August. Canada experienced the lowest growth, at 3–4 percent, while Sony's home country of Japan experienced the largest increase, at 21–24 percent. The producer of the PlayStation cited "adverse currency trends" and "high worldwide inflation rates." Our coastlines are now being affected by the same. In relation to the USD, the Indian Rupee (INR) has decreased by around 10% this year.
For what it's worth, the PS5 isn't as badly affected as the Xbox Series X, whose launch price has increased by 12 percent to Rs. 55,990. But unlike Sony, it didn't happen all at once. Microsoft was the first to respond to the stronger USD back in July by raising the price of its flagship gaming console by 6% from Rs. 49,990 to Rs. 52,990 in India. The Series X pricing in India was then increased earlier this week by more than 5%, from Rs. 52,990 to Rs. 55,990. Although some sellers are offering discounts on their old stock, the new price is already apparent on Amazon India.
Xbox Series S, Microsoft's digital-only system, has also seen two rounds of pricing rises. Nevertheless, at 8.5 percent over launch price, the difference is the smallest. The price of the Series S in India increased by over 6% in June, from Rs. 34,990 to Rs. 36,990. Microsoft then made a modest increase in August, raising it by 2.7 percent from Rs. 36,990 to Rs. 37,990. Due to its pricing being close to that of the PS5 Digital Edition, the Series S had previously become an unattractive possibility. At launch, Sony's digital-only system cost 14% more than Microsoft's; however, the PS5 Digital Edition now costs about 18.5 percent more than the Xbox Series S.
The price of the PlayStation 5 in India is currently Rs. 54,990, while the price of the PS5 Digital Edition is Rs. 44,990. Only Sony Center is now displaying the revised prices. The pricing on the websites of the other major online merchants, including Croma, Flipkart, and Vijay Sales, have not yet been adjusted. The PS5 pages on Reliance Digital and Amazon India are still unavailable. Only e2z Store, in addition to ShopAtSC, was showing the revised PS5 India pricing at the time of writing.
