ChatGPT Temporarily Banned on Stack Overflow as Chatbot Was Giving Incorrect Answers

Stack overflow imposes sanctions on users who might have used ChatGPT to create posts after the temporary ban has been announced.

The AI-powered ChatGPT chatbot has been temporarily banned from Stack Overflow, a question-and-answer platform for computing and programming. According to the website, the AI has allegedly been submitting incorrect responses, which might be "significantly detrimental" to both the website and its users. The amount of accurate responses generated by ChatGPT is relatively little. As a result, it has been temporarily prohibited. A chatbot named ChatGPT is made to provide inquiries with conversational responses. These AIs can respond to queries on coding advice, cooking techniques, and other topics.

The prohibition is temporary, and a final decision will be taken in the future after consultation with the community, according to a post by Stack overflow. It claims that a substantial percentage of inaccurate answers are produced by the ChatGPT. The issue, though, is that  the answers seem to be good and correct, but on close examination, they appear incorrect.

The usage of ChatGPT to generate posts is not allowed since the website wants to lower the volume of these postings. Additionally, the company has made it clear that it would take action against anyone who might have utilised ChatGPT to post after the temporary restriction was put into place. The statement read, "Sanctions will be enforced to restrict users from continuing to publish such content, even if the posts would normally be permitted, if a user is discovered to have used ChatGPT after this temporary policy is established."

A number of people have expressed their approval of this choice in the post's comment area on Stack Overflow.

On November 30, San Francisco-based OpenAI made the ChatGPT chatbot freely accessible to the general public for testing. Over a million users attempted to make the tool talk inside a week. It might be applied to online content generation, customer support, digital marketing, and even code debugging.
