WhatsApp for iOS Set to Revolutionize Sticker Sharing with Built-in Sticker Creator
WhatsApp for iOS is set to introduce a built-in sticker creator, potentially rendering third-party sticker apps unnecessary. The popular instant messaging platform has been widely used for sharing stickers among friends and family, but until now, users had to rely on external apps like sticker.ly to add stickers to their chats. However, according to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp developers are currently working on a new sticker maker tool that will offer an in-app solution for creating stickers.
The upcoming feature leverages the iOS 16 APIs to extract subjects from images and automatically convert them into stickers. Users will find the "New Sticker" option within the chat share action sheet, allowing them to choose an image from their library and easily transform it into a sticker. This will eliminate the need to download and depend on third-party apps for accessing new stickers, providing a more seamless experience for WhatsApp users.
Currently, the sticker maker tool is available exclusively for WhatsApp beta users on iOS version 23.10.0.74. It remains uncertain when or if this functionality will be rolled out to the stable version of the app.
In addition to the sticker creator, WhatsApp has recently introduced other privacy-focused features. Users now have the ability to lock specific chats, report inappropriate messages within group chats, and silence calls from unknown numbers. These updates aim to enhance user privacy and control within the platform, catering to the evolving needs of WhatsApp's vast user base.
As WhatsApp continues to refine its features and prioritize user privacy, the addition of a built-in sticker creator for iOS demonstrates the platform's commitment to providing a comprehensive and user-friendly messaging experience. By reducing reliance on external sticker apps, WhatsApp aims to streamline the sticker-sharing process and offer a more integrated and seamless solution for its users.
